Keep Norway Tidy 10th Anniversary celebrations – Wednesday 27 November
More than 50 participants attended the anniversary event of Keep Norway Tidy (KNT) who celebrate 10 years of being an independent non-for-profit organisation dedicated to litter prevention. The celebrations took place in Trekanten in Oslo and the event included guest speakers such as the Grønt Punkt Norge (Green Dot Norway), representatives of the Norwegian Ministry of Environment and members of Keep Norway Tidy. One of the highlights was the handover of the Clean Europe Strategy, translated in Norwegian, by Ms. Mari Mo, Director of Prevention & Clean-up Activities, to a representative of the Norwegian government.

Clean Europe Strategy is a blueprint for integrated litter prevention across Europe and beyond. National and local authorities are essential stakeholders in ensuring a successful implementation of the Strategy.
Later in the evening, the President of the Network, Johanna Ragnartz and Secretary General Eamonn Bates presented gifts to the Keep Norway Tidy team and a framed certificate of recognition for Keep Norway Tidy’s valued contribution and loyalty to the Network over the years. The event was also marked by the presence of several Network members which enabled an interactive discussion amongst them.
Workshop on design for products, services and areas against littering – Thursday 28 November
The second day in Oslo was marked by the organisation of the workshop by KNT on design of products, services and areas against littering. Several organisations from across Europe, such as Keep Sweden Tidy (Hall Sveringe Rent) and Verpact (Netherlands), presented their case studies on how their practices reduce litter.

The Clean Europe Network Secretariat, represented by Eamonn Bates and Christos Tzagkas, presented the example of the ring pull cans and attached bottle caps, showcasing how either industry or lawmakers can take the initiative to innovate on product design with the purpose of reducing litter. The presentations followed an interactive discussion among participants based on questions that they posed during the workshop. Many interesting ideas were expressed on how the design of products, services and areas can be further improved to prevent litter and littering taking into consideration the experiences of each participant and their respective country.
Clean Europe Network would like to sincerely thank Keep Norway Tidy for its initiative and wishes all the best for the next 10 years!
