The European Litter Prevention Association

Has the Network lobbied against litter prevention measures?

No. We are not a lobbying organisation.

We are all working towards a litter free Europe by 2030 and support more and better litter prevention. Litter is caused by people deliberately or carelessly dropping used items in our towns and countryside and by inadequacies in our waste management systems. Anything to improve these will make a difference.

The Network has developed an expert opinion that is publicly available, which says we believe the best way to stop littering is to change the way people behave. It underlines that everybody has their own responsibility – producers, national and local governments, civil society and, of course, the consumer. It makes it clear that we see sustained information, education and communication as the key tools to achieving lasting behaviour change that will lead to cleaner surroundings for all.
