Northern Ireland takes surgical approach to develop civic pride

9 June 2017

Northern Ireland’s litter prevention experts teamed up with local comedian Colin Geddis - aka Barry “The Blender” Henderson - to produce three humorous 1-minute videos on “how to deal with some of these Litterizers running around this picturesque countryside and just chucking rubbish everywhere.” Barry’s 100K+ Facebook followers provide a neat way to reach out to one of the key littering demographics, 18 to 34 year old males, and get them to rethink their behaviour. Altogether the videos gathered more than 125,000 views. Video 1 - Video 2 - Video 3

These videos represent a new approach taken by Live Here Love Here, the ongoing “positive, people powered campaign focused on improving our local environment and building a sense of pride in our local communities” run by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful, a litter prevention organisation and member of the Clean Europe Network.
